With more than 60,000 migrants in the city’s care, Adams has decided to stop sheltering single adults after two months, and thousands will start being evicted last Saturday.
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) said on Thursday that her state has reached its limit with the illegal immigrants flooding it. "Places like New York really are at capacity," Hochul told CNN. "We have large hearts. You want to be generous and supportive to people who are experiencing a humanitarian crisis, but there is a limit to what we can do." With more than 60,000 migrants in the city’s care, Adams has decided to stop sheltering single adults after two months, and thousands will start being evicted last Saturday. The decision was made, in part, out of concerns that New York’s shelter guarantee was becoming a magnet for migrants, according to two people familiar with City Hall’s thinking.
